We hold a few datasets nobody else does — a restaurant corpus, the rule tables the scanner runs on. This is what comes out when we count them properly.

The most common fat on food labels doesn’t name an oil
We counted every fat named across Open Food Facts on August 28, 2026. The single most common term is “vegetable oil” — 299,937 products that never say which plant it came from, more than sunflower and palm combined.

We read 5,887 seed-oil-free venues city by city instead of in aggregate. In 293 of 593 cities there is not one independent restaurant on the map — the directory is national, and almost nowhere local.
